Evaluation process
Peer evaluation
Papers received for publication as books are submitted to a two-stage review process. The first stage is a preliminary evaluation carried out by the UTP Editorial editing committee. Such evaluation involves document format, topic relevance, scientific impact, structure, and content originality. Afterwards, authors are notified if any modifications are required.
The second stage consists of a double-blind peer review process which will be carried out by external expert evaluators assigned according to the discipline and topic approached in the submitted work (book or book chapter). Subsequent observations will be evaluated by the editorials committee and a dictamen will be given to authors. Obsrvations and/or modifications made to submitted papers must be completed to be considered for publishing.
Once a paper is accepted, an Acceptance Letter is sent to the author and an application for the ISBN registration is made (within a 15 working-day response time). Afterwards, a Publication Letter is sent to the author, notifying the date and site where the publication will be available.
Books and book chapters distribution for evaluation is made randomly. Author’s, as well as evaluators’ anonymity is kept all along the evaluation process.
The general publication process takes from one to three months, subject to the author’s and evaluators’ responses.
Cession of rights
Once a piece of work is submitted to the editorial process, a transfer of rights format is sent to the author(s) and it must be signed by all the authors and sent back to the editorial.
